Before You Begin
Most installation delays are not caused by the equipment. They are caused by the site not being ready for it. Working through the checks below before the delivery date turns a multi day problem into a short one.
Civil and structural
- Floor or plinth level, cured and able to carry the panel weight, including the point loads under each section.
- Access route from the unloading point to the final position checked against the largest single section, including door widths and ceiling height.
- Cable trenches, ducts and gland plates in place and clear of debris.
Electrical
- Earthing system installed, tested and certified. This is the single most common blocker at commissioning.
- Incoming supply available, with the fault level confirmed in writing against the panel rating.
- Cables pulled, identified at both ends and long enough to reach the terminals with the bending radius the manufacturer specifies.
- Temporary supply available for testing, separate from the supply being commissioned.
Environment
- Room ventilation or air conditioning working. Panels are rated for a maximum ambient temperature, and a hot room derates them.
- Space clear at the front and rear for the doors and withdrawable sections through their full travel.
- Lighting and, where required, emergency lighting.
Documentation
- Approved drawings issued for construction, not the tender set.
- Permits, work clearances and site inductions arranged for the installation team.
- Protection settings issued, or the study scheduled so settings are ready before energisation.
Confirm before delivery
Run this list with the site team and confirm in writing. If any item is outstanding, tell your ECS contact before the equipment ships. Rescheduling a delivery costs far less than a crew standing idle on site.
